Despite any pros and cons about the occurrence of asbestos-induced lung cancer, recent study still confirmed that the cancer may occur only if the exposure of asbestos above in certain level. Bellow than threshold level, no potential risk.
Generally all parties agree about potential risk of in any level may influence to health effects. Especially related to working environment that allowed fiber exposure in certain level.
For example, in the U.S, permissible fibre exposure no longer than 0.005 mm at 0.2 fiber/cm2 for 8 hours or 40 hours/week in working area. Based on this standard, outside of working area not considered a hazard.
It’s well known that inhaled for long period of asbestos fiber concentration become health concern such as top risk but rare, mesothelioma.
One form of asbestos is chrysotile asbestos. Studied in animals producing tumors.
Others hazard mineral from asbestos are amosite, tremolite, crocidolite, actinolite, and antophylite. 2 of them amosite and tremolite more hazardous caused their long persistence in the lung of exposed people.
Some other effect of disease related to asbestos exposure such as benign of bump on the outer skin layer (including toenail problem and foot infection), pleural plaques, and diffuse pleural thickening that can lead to lung impairment.
