Exercise is three combination of planned, structured, and repetitive of physical activity to improves health condition, rehabilitation, and keep steady of the fitness.
While many of exercises addressed to lose the weight, however, lot of studies has showed the benefits effect of exercises to diseases, whether as prevention or treatment.
One of exercise that had benefits to health improving is aerobic.
Aerobic is one of exercises training that important to keep healthy heart and cardiac properties, including other benefits such as stress reducer, burning fat, improves metabolism, and even to cancer prevention benefit.
Regarding to heart effects, As the heart become weaker and less capable in responding on demands, especially to those who active in physical activity because heart muscle size that typically measured by left ventricular (LV) mass diminished with age, therefore, this condition leads to a stiffening of the heart.
However, for those who active with regular aerobic exercise, the researchers found that those exercise could keep and maintain the ‘elasticity’ of heart.
The exercise of this findings defined as at least have 20 to 25 minutes of aerobic activity.
The study authors who presented this finding at a press conference of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) 2011 Scientific Sessions, Dr. Paul Bhella from John eter Smith Hospital, Fort Worth, TX, said that they found LV mass stayed stable or actually increased in those who had done regular exercise compared the decrease effect of LV mass of people in their 30s (LV mass around 55 g/m2) to 60s (LV mass decreased became 24 g/m2).
According to the findings, those who had exercised two or three times per week had the average LV mass around 53 g/m2 and increased to around 62 g/m2 in those who had exercised four times per week, and 68 g/m2 in those who had exercised for six to seven times per week.
Also, those who active with exercise showed better peak oxygen uptake when compared with sedentary group.
In the study, the authors enrolled participants into two group, which first group for sedentary individuals aged 21 to 82 years (81 healthy people), and second group for those who had exercised regularly throughout their lives (67 people, aged 65 or older).
Additional group were part of second group for having exercise of 2-3 times a week, 4-5 times a week, and 6-7 times a week.
Speaking in press releases of ACC, the lead of study author, Dr. Benjamin Levine said, “The data suggest that if we can identify people in middle age and get them to exercise four to five times a week, this may go a vary long way in preventing some of the major heart condition of old age, including heart failure.”
