Diabetes Mellitus Type 2, also known as type 2 diabetes widely treated by Sulphonylureas and Metformin.
A popular prescription diabetes medicine.

New research leading by Professor Paul Elliott from Imperial College London said, Sulphonylureas have greater risk of heart failure and death compared with metformin (another drug for type 2 diabetes)

diabetes remediesThe research result showed, up to 61% have significant risk of all-cause mortality by metformin, and up to 30% excess risk of congestive heart failure by sulphonylureas.

The data from 91,521 men and women (average age 65 years) with diabetes included in the UK General Practice Research Database between 1990 and 2005.

Like type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes carries the risk of diabetes complications over a long period of time.
Ketoacidosis is much rarer amongst type 2 diabetics, but non-ketonic hyperglycaemia is one threat type 2 diabetics need to be aware of.
Despite the similarity in complications, type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes have quite different origins and treatment regimens.
